Can we begin by pointing out the epic name of this place? The aguacate (avocado in Spanish) is basically Miami’s vegetable mascot, not to mention a vegan staple. The sanctuary of love may not make sense at first, but once you step foot into the outdoor space, you will realize that it all makes sense.

Aguacate Sanctuary of Love is a vegan restaurant located in the Westchester area. On one side, you have a small hut where all of the meals are made and a large, beautiful patio with several different tables and lounge areas to enjoy your meal. Right behind that, though, is a magical sanctuary for animals like pigs, chickens, cows, and more! These animals are not just being cared for by the staff there; they are there as a beautiful reminder of why you eat here, to begin with.

Although the Aguacate Sanctuary of Love hut seems small, its menu is far from it. There is quite a variety of food options. From sandwiches to wraps to smoothies and beyond, there is something for everyone here. One of my favorite things about the menu is that they recreate many traditional Hispanic dishes like pan con lechon and croqueta preparada sandwiches.

These sandwiches are, of course, accompanied by plantain chips – as all Cuban sandwiches should be! The sandwiches and burgers are a great size, and the meat substitutes are full of flavor and quite comparable to the flavor you would get with your real meat. I have come to this restaurant several times, and I love trying everything, but these two sandwiches are my personal favorites. Their smoothies are fresh as can be. I wouldn’t be surprised if the fruit came right off the tree before making it into the blender. My personal favorite smoothie here is the Awakened Monkey. It’s a refreshing option for a peanut butter-based smoothie, giving you space in your belly to enjoy more goodies!

Although I can say that the food is delicious enough to be the sole reason you come to this place, I would be lying because the ambiance of Aguacate Sanctuary of Love is everything! The space is adorned with twinkle lights, fresh herbs, and quirky signs. The signs are all hand-painted with vibrant colors, positive quotes like “Love Is Spoken Here,” and beautiful, Zen artwork. The patio furniture is a fun, eclectic, but super cute mix of wicker and wooden chairs and loveseats that are great for any party. On a date? It’s the perfect casual yet romantic spot.  Meeting up with friends? There’s plenty of room for groups of any size to gather and order food at your leisure. And if the weather is nice, there is no better place to eat. On top of that, they have a section where they hold outdoor yoga classes, making this spot different than any other vegan restaurant out there. But the best, most memorable thing by far about Aguacate Sanctuary of Love is all the animal friends you get to make while you’re there. I must warn you; you should be prepared to have a request for a plantain chip from a chicken once or twice during your meal.

We had a very eager chicken approach us several times on our last visit. But how could you deny those adorable little faces?

Once you’re done, you can go out back and bid your farewells to the precious farm animals who are recovering from past traumas and are able to do so thanks to the proceeds from the meal you just enjoyed. Animals like cows, pigs, and, yup, you guessed it, more chickens! The feathered friends are always so fun to watch as they are always zooming around playing jubilantly.

You don’t have to be vegan or Cuban to enjoy Aguacate Sanctuary of Love. You just need to like refreshing, flavorful meals!
