Reviewing Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta: Authentic Italian at its best in the Houston area.
Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta is a privately-owned Italian restaurant that has been in the Houston area since 1993. They are known for authentic Italian dishes that are hard to find in the South. Angelo’s sells numerous kinds of pasta and pizzas all made from scratch. They also sell an assortment of homemade desserts. A close friend introduced me to this establishment about three years ago. I personally love good Italian cuisine and Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta never lets me down. Some of Angelo’s specialties include the spicy cannelloni, lobster ravioli, and lasagna, as well as an excellent chocolate mousse cake for dessert. All of Angelo’s main menu selections are rich in seasoning and spices.
Their modest location is well known among locals, as multiple families go here for a fabulous meal. People of all ages eat here, complimenting their meals as soon as they take their first bite. Despite its basic interior, the quality of its food and staff is quite recognizable. It has a welcoming and orderly vibe from start to finish. The sight of colorful pasta dishes is very eye-catching. Both servers and managers immediately attend to drink orders while other employees place rolls on each table. The staff seems genuinely knowledgeable and able to give honest opinions on questions about their menu.
Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta website explains how the owner came to Texas with a dream of selling great and authentic Italian food. They have been exceedingly popular in this area for three decades. Several customers frequently praise the food for its authentic New York taste. There are plenty of fan-favorite dishes to satisfy any craving. For example, some people want a basic pasta, while some want a white cream sauce pasta. Then there are some who really love tomato cream sauce pasta or lasagna. The spicy cannelloni and lobster ravioli both use their own tomato cream sauces, while the lasagna is full of runny, red meat sauce and cheese.
I ordered spicy cannelloni during my most recent visit. This pasta order was extraordinarily rich and very creamy. It wasn’t overly salty or bland in the slightest. There was no cheap grease taste or weird imbalanced spice in the meat. The pasta layers were soft, tender, and fresh. The meat itself was strong in natural beef taste with some spinach in the filling as well. The mozzarella cheese on top was thick, stretchy, and rich. The tomato cream sauce smothered the whole pasta order and had just the right amount of spiciness to let all the aromas stand out very nicely. The flavor of this gravy is buttery with a very noticeable mix of tomato sweetness and tartness. The texture of the sauce is thick with a milky consistency like bisque. It is a perfect pasta lover’s dream meal; many customers claim it is their favorite go-to meal at Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta.
The other upsides of this restaurant, besides amazing food with a wide variety, are the consistency of the dishes and exceptional service. The meals always taste the same and do not differ between visits. The prices are reasonable. Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta is conventional for individual cravings, family dinners, and dates that just require a nice little cafe with delicious dishes.
