When you enter Brooklyn Bagel Bakery is looks like a classic counter service bagel shop. If you go on a weekend expect there to be a line all the way to the front door, but do not worry, it moves fast! The staff at Brooklyn Bagel Bakery work as a perfectly well-oiled machine. Seamlessly taking turns asking for orders and making them one by one right in front of you.
One of my favorite parts of the bagel shop is that you can see their giant commercial bagel machinery at work while you wait in line. If you’re lucky, you’ll see someone unloading a fresh batch of your favorite bagel flavor right before your eyes. It just adds to their authenticity and explains a large of Brooklyn Bagel Bakery’s appeal.
While you are waiting in line be sure to check out the menu on the tv screens, you should have your order ready to go once you reach the counter. The first time I went, it was a little intimidating at how quickly everything moved and the demand for orders seemed almost like a “No Soup for You!” Seinfeld moment. I soon realized that that is not the case at all. Every staff member is kind and friendly. But they are trying to move through their massive line and keep fresh bagels moving into the hands of hungry breakfast goers.
The menu is quite extensive ranging from plain bagels to full deli sandwiches. I always order my favorite breakfast sandwich: ham, egg, and provolone cheese on an everything bagel. It is perfect every time I go, which is quite often. My fiancé got the classic sausage, egg, and cheese, also on an everything bagel. Get your camera ready, when you dig into your bagel sandwich, you’ll want to snap a photo of the gooey cheese inside!
Every bagel is delivered to you at the cash register in their signature plain brown paper bag. It’s really fun to see people walking around the neighborhood with their brown paper bags in the morning – even though there isn’t any branding on it you instantly know they have been to Brooklyn Bagel Bakery!
Brooklyn Bagel Bakery also offers a full coffee menu from drip coffee to lattes and cappuccinos. It is the perfect addition to any bagel breakfast. If coffee isn’t your thing, they also offer fresh orange juice and a variety of other cooler drinks.
After you’ve received your bagel and beverage of choice it’s time to find a spot to eat! Inside the bagel shop there’s some seating in the front of the restaurant as well as in the back. If you’re lucky you can snag one of the tables out front when the weather is nice.
