Reviewing Cocohodo & Sweet Vivian’s: A taste of European cuisine without leaving Katy, TX.
My friends and I were looking for a crepe place in Katy that we hadn’t tried yet. One of my friends is obsessed with crepes, so we’ve tried quite a few, but never Cocohodo & Sweet Vivian’s, despite having thought about it a few times.
Thus, today was the day. I had stalked Cocohodo & Sweet Vivian’s Facebook page to check out their crepes and drinks and they all looked excellent.
I honestly had no idea this cafe would look so cute and trendy until we walked in. They had so much seating available in a variety of tables, booths, and larger tables perfect for little get-togethers or meetings.
I loved the decor as well, but more importantly, I was really surprised to learn that they were a distributor of my favorite tea brand that I usually can only buy online. They had a massive wall of this tea in boxes, gift sets, and even some teapots for sale, and I overheard someone behind the counter say that if a customer wanted them to carry a specific tea, they’d be happy to place the order. Talk about incredible customer service!
I also experienced that high-quality customer service firsthand when it
was my turn to order. My friend ordered quickly, but I got stuck with a sudden burst of decision paralysis and had no idea what to order because of how much their menu had to offer. I mean, they had ice cream, waffles, sandwiches, coffee and tea lattes, and savory and sweet crepes, just to name a few. They also had giant slices of cake in an assortment of mouthwatering flavors.
The man behind the counter was super patient with me and went to make the drink I had chosen, a lavender latte, while I contemplated my options. I told him it was my first time there, and he told me he’d go make my drink to make me less nervous, which I thought was funny. He was very friendly and helpful; he told me that the store has a happy hour from 3-5 p.m. every day, so my order was actually cheaper than expected!
I eventually ordered a bananas Foster crepe because I thought I’d try a flavor I usually don’t go for and I don’t tend to go for banana things. It just spoke to me that day.
The caramel was a fantastic addition to this crepe. Luckily, the crepes weren’t overly big, and the bananas weren’t too mushy or blackened. I was worried they’d taste old, but they were very fresh.
It was well worth the price, which wasn’t too expensive at all.
The lavender latte was so good that I almost went back and bought another one. I use regular milk in my lattes, but apparently, they accommodate dietary sensitivities and offer milk alternatives.
I would definitely recommend this adorable cafe to anyone in the Katy area. It truly is a hidden gem and I’m sad I didn’t know about it sooner!
