Reviewing Eclairons: Picture perfect pastries and coffee from Europe to the Middle East outside of Washington DC.
Are you mesmerized by cases of beautiful pastries? Swept away by handcrafted espresso drinks? If so, Eclairons in Arlington, Virginia is the coffee shop and bakery for you! This café feels like a European eatery with top notch service and incredible eats, just one metro stop from Washington, DC proper.
Located in an unassuming strip of local restaurants in the Rosslyn neighborhood, Eclairons really shines once you walk through its panned glass doors. The first thing I saw upon entering this European-influenced eatery was the giant pastry case spanning from one wall across to the other. The glistening case was filled with pastries of every shape and color you could imagine. It was such a mouth-watering sight, and a great sales tactic! I purchased one of their name sake eclairs solely due to its beauty in the pastry case! I do have to admit, it was difficult to pick just one pastry to order. However, the staff member behind the counter was very helpful with making the decision. I was not disappointed!
The restaurant is counter service style. You order your pastries, coffees, and food with the lovely staff and then select your seat indoors or out on the front patio. I was able to snag a window seat the day I went, and it was the perfect spot to enjoy my breakfast!
This time at Eclairons I ordered something sweet, something savory, and a large latte, my favorite breakfast combination! I absolutely adore their Queen Bee latte. It’s served with honey and cardamom and has such a rich flavor. I get it iced with almond milk and savor each sip!
To eat, I selected the breakfast burrito. It’s always hard for me to turn down a breakfast burrito, even in a European style café! This one was huge and stuffed with the freshest possible ingredients. It came with a whole egg omelet, onions, mushrooms, red peppers, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and chipotle dressing, all in a spinach wrap. You can select between pork sausage or turkey bacon and a whole egg versus egg whites. I got turkey bacon and whole egg and was not disappointed. Each bite was savory in all the right ways.
For my sweet treat, the Éclair au chocolate hit the spot. It had chocolate pastry cream inside and chocolate fondant outside – a chocolate lover’s dream! Their éclair selection was very impressive ranging from tiramisu to pistachio to Nutella. Each one was decorated to pastry perfection.
On other visits to Eclairons I’ve tried their macaroons, fruit tarts, and chocolate croissants. Each and every pastry is smash hit, and I cannot wait to continue to treat my sweet tooth all the way through their pastry case!
I loved eating my éclair while drinking my Queen Bee latte. The atmosphere in the café was perfect for working on your laptopor having coffee with a friend. Of course you can also get everything to go if you don’t have time to sit. Eclairons is a gem in the Rosslyn neighborhood. Please stop by next time you’re in the neighborhood to pick up a sweet picture-perfect pastry!
