Reviewing Ella: An Italian neighborhood cafe, bar, rooftop, and restaurant located in the SIXTY Hotel in Beverly Hills.
In researching where to take my mom for her birthday breakfast, we decided on Ella at the SIXTY Hotel in Beverly Hills. Only a couple streets down from the infamous Rodeo Drive, we spotted designer fashion brand corporate meetings taking place, as well as shoppers getting some fuel before heading to the shops at opening. I had seen some TikToks about this place, and had actually saved it to my camera roll wanting to visit, so I was very excited that I was finally going to make it there. They have valet, which on this day was $12 for 3 hours with validation.
Upon walking into the hotel, the lobby decor is trendy and the perfect spot to snap an Instagram picture. When walking into the restaurant, there are several different areas, all with different vibes to soak in– the first being the bar area on your right, then the “bottle shop” on your left, and then the loungey-tables, as well as the regular tables. There is a piano with “Ella” on it in reference to the restaurant name. We were seated at a table by the window looking out on Wilshire Blvd. Not only is this one of the most aesthetically pleasing spots in LA from the hotel lobby to the restaurant, but also the food was amazing.
To start, we all ordered lattes– vanilla and mochas. The lattes come in these tall glasses that are perfect for photo ops, and definitely hold a lot of coffee. None of us were able to drink the whole thing.
Then for food, we ordered the avocado toast topped with scrambled eggs, the lemon-ricotta pancakes, and the market fruit bowl. The avocado toast consisted of pickled red onion, breakfast radish, herb creme fraiche, queso fresco, chives, and scrambled eggs. The herb creme fraiche addition made this one of the most unique avocado toasts I have ever tried. It was packed with flavor, and each bite was better than the previous. However, if I were to order this again I would not add the scrambled eggs, because I think it is good enough flavor-wise and sustenance-wise without due to the herb creme fraiche. The lemon-ricotta pancakes were topped with whipped cream fraiche and a blueberry-lemon compote, with a side of maple syrup. These were some of the best pancakes I have ever had. The “lemon-ricotta” aspect was perfection, and I would definitely order these again the next time I go! I did not even have to use maple syrup because the pancakes were so flavorful. Lastly, the market fruit bowl consisted of strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. These berries were extremely fresh and had a vine-ripened sweetness to them. I was more than impressed with everything we ordered, and cannot wait to go back and try more items from the menu.
Although they were busy, I think they were also a tad understaffed because it took a while before our server greeted us and took our order.
As mentioned previously, the ambiance of the place is unmatched anywhere else in LA. There is such a cute, yet sophisticated vibe to the place. I like how the restaurant can cater to both the corporate crowd, but also a more celebratory, casual group like ours.
I am definitely going to be visiting Ella again sometime soon to try the Breakfast Burrito (which consists of bacon, roasted wild mushrooms, or Impossible vegan sausage, organic scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, mozzarella, salsa roja, and creme fraiche) and the bruleed french toast (which consists of orange-coriander, whipped honeycomb butter, and fresh berries). All in all, this is a perfect spot to do a birthday brunch, a girl’s night out, or even a work meet-up!
