After a long day of hiking, myself, three friends, and one dog were in a desperate search for a dog friendly heated patio on a chilly spring day. Fire Works Pizza delivered! We were so excited to try this neighborhood pizzeria and even more thrilled that we could stay warm with our pup in tow. We walked in and were quickly seated at their huge outdoor patio. Fire Works Pizza has one of the largest indoor and outdoor spaces in the Court House neighborhood of Arlington. We were so happy we could sit right away without a reservation.

Our friendly server greeted us and welcomed our group’s dog with a bowl of water and a separate dog menu. Yup, Fire Works Pizza is so dog friendly they even have a dedicated doggy menu for all of our four-legged friends! We thought this was amazing and ordered her a dog ice cream to enjoy while we placed our drink order.

It was happy hour when we visited Fire Works Pizza, so we enjoyed discounted prices on beer, wine, and sangria for our group. I personally loved the red sangria. It was a bold yet sweet flavor with fresh fruit served in the glass.

We also ordered two happy hour appetizers, the blue cheese chips and the fried zucchini. We devoured both dishes so quickly I didn’t even get a photo! The blue cheese chips were crispy kettle-cooked chips that had crumbles of blue cheese on top with some buffalo sauce drizzled over them. Both appetizers were a large portion for the happy hour special.

When it came time to order our main meal, we opted to share a couple of pizzas since we were eating at a pizzeria after all. However, Fire Works Pizza has a huge menu with items from pizza to pastas, to salads, and sandwiches there truly is something for everyone here to order and love. Our group ordered The Fire “Works” and the Sweet Heat. We got both on a gluten-free crust since one of our group members is gluten-free, and we all wanted to be able to share both pies. The Fire “Works” was loaded with toppings. It came with tomato sauce, house blend, baker’s Italian sausage, pepperoni, roasted onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. We all loved this pizza. It was an improved version on a classic supreme pizza and really showed off what Fire Works Pizza is all about – classic wood-fired style pizzas.

Our second pizza, the Sweet Heat, was also a big hit with our group. This one had fewer toppings on it but made up for it with a robust flavor! This pizza had tomato sauce, house blend, pepperoni, chorizo, jalapenos, and a honey drizzle. We subbed jalapenos for bell peppers on this one and let the hot honey be the only heat source on this pie. We loved the flavor of the hot honey with the meats and creamy drizzle that perfectly balanced out the heat.

The gluten-free crust was also very good. I’m not gluten-free and did not know what to expect, but it was the equivalent of a regular, very thin-crust pizza. We all loved that Fire Works was so inclusive with ingredients and toppings and offered gluten-free crust and even vegan cheese if that is something you need.

Fire Works Pizza was an incredible place to enjoy a patio with good food, friends, and our dog. We will all absolutely be returning to enjoy the patio in the summer season with an ice-cold beer and tasty wood-fired pizza from this incredible local pizzeria.
