Reviewing Guerrilla Cafecito: Breakfast burritos, pastries, and coffee in Los Angeles.
Sunday brunch is always a necessity! Researching where to go in Downtown L.A. and the Arts District landed me at a place called Guerrilla Cafecito, known for its photogenic and scrumptious breakfast burritos. Breakfast burritos have risen to fame in the past months due to their convenience and overall deliciousness, and I have been on the hunt for my L.A. favorites for a while now. This spot is brought to us by Guerrilla Tacos, and not only is Guerrilla Cafecito only a few blocks away from the Tik Tok famous Maru Coffee (which is an excellent post-burrito excursion), but it is in a clean and easy-parking location.
There is both indoor and outdoor seating offered at this location, and the inside is lovely, creative, and work-worthy (meaning it’s suitable for computer work, meetings, and such). This place is definitely Instagram-worthy for its food and the aesthetic of the inside space. I highly recommend ordering online ahead of time to beat the line, which is what we did. Also, the burritos are only served until 12 p.m., even though the cafe does not close until 3 p.m., so be sure to make note of that!
We ordered the “Breakie” burrito, which consists of bacon, avocado, hash browns, cheese, beans, eggs, and salsa. We ditched the avocado because we thought it would taste better without it. While this burrito was good, it was not anything that wowed our palates. It kind of tasted like a breakfast burrito we could make at home. I did not really like the way the bacon was prepared either.
Next up, we got the “GTLA” burrito, which consists of steak, hash browns, cheese, avocado, and salsa. This burrito was definitely the one I prefer because the steak was cooked perfectly, and the texture contrast between the avocado and hash browns was absolutely divine. All the ingredients in this burrito paired beautifully together, and I would eat it for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner! I 100% recommend this burrito for first-time Guerrilla Cafecito goers. The burritos were fairly priced, especially for their size. They are ideal to share or split so that you can try multiple ones with different ingredients.
The staff was friendly, but it was honestly a pretty quick pickup, sit-down, and eat vibe, so there was not much interaction with the staff. As mentioned previously, this is certainly an Instagram-friendly space for content creation, both of the cafe and in which to work. I love the pink-colored theme of the place as it really stands out from the street.
I have previously passed Guerrilla Cafecito when driving by and was intrigued by the color and logo outside. This attention-grabbing color and logo are ultimately what led me back to researching the spot and eventually going with my friend to dine there. Guerrilla Cafecito is politically aware and involved through much of the art on display in the café, as well. While this was not my all-time favorite breakfast burrito I have ever had, I will certainly revisit Guerrilla Cafecito sometime soon to get the “GTLA” burrito again!
