Reviewing Simona Café: Arlington’s newest coziest café and coffee shop.
A brand-new café and coffee shop in Arlington, Virginia right outside of Washington, DC just opened this year and is a delightful spot for your morning cup of coffee, a third space to work in, or a new happy hour patio spot. Simona Café is the cozy coffee shop of my dreams, located a few blocks from the Court House or Clarendon Metro stops.
Simona’s patio is large and has ample seating for many teleworkers and coffee shop eaters alike. It’s a great comfortable and casual place to hang out while you drink your coffee or stay awhile and get some work done.
On my first visit to Simona Café, I was really impressed with both the interior and exterior spaces. They have really created a special place where neighbors might run into each other and chat for a while, or book clubs can meet up for their monthly discussions over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The interior design is quite welcoming. It is light and airy, and feels very Instagram-able.
The staff was very kind and service was speedy. I got an iced coffee with almond milk and a breakfast sandwich called the Wilson, aptly named after a nearby street thoroughfare. The sandwich came with fluffy scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese, served on perfectly toasted house made focaccia. I ordered at the counter and then made my way to a nice spot on the patio.
The patio’s ample seating includes umbrellas, which are great for getting out of the sun or shielding your laptop from the glare. I set up shop to get an hour or so of work done while I enjoyed the café.
Not long after sitting down my coffee arrived. I was thrilled that it came in an actual glass rather than a paper cup since I ordered for here rather than to go. This was a small detail, but it really elevated my experience at the café! I liked my iced coffee; it was fairly standard but exactly what I was looking for. Next time I visit I think I’ll try one of their hot espresso drinks. Each one I saw made was a work of coffee art!
When my breakfast sandwich arrived, I was ready to dive in. It had mouthwatering griddle marks on the bread and cheesy fluffy scrambled eggs peeking out of the sides. My first bite was savory perfection, so warm, and delicious that I ate the entire Wilson breakfast sandwich with hardly a pause for sips of my coffee! I wish it came with a side, but the sandwich was filling on its own. I would absolutely order it again.
Simona Café is a great local neighborhood coffee shop. I loved the buzz of the customers working and chatting around me. The outdoor seating was fairly quiet even though it was on a road. The atmosphere is exactly what I am looking for in a coffee shop. I’m looking forward to trying other food items and even stopping by for their happy hour with wine, beer, and charcuterie boards. I hope this new café is here to stay in the Arlington area!
