Reviewing Tryst Caffe: Delicious cafe drinks and quick breakfast bites in Beverly Hills.

Matcha Rose Butterfly and Breakfast Bowl, Tryst Caffe, Beverly Hills
Matcha Rose Butterfly and Breakfast Bowl (Tryst Caffe, Beverly Hills)

Los Angeles is all about trendy restaurants, but how many of them actually serve quality drinks and food? Well, I found just the spot that meets both the trendy aspect and satisfies a foodie’s needs. Being only two blocks from where I work in the heart of Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive, I drive by Tryst Caffe frequently and have always been curious about their menu. Being a new cafe in Beverly Hills, I was not sure what to expect as it had recently opened and had not received much buzz yet (besides among the people at my job). I finally decided to try it out during my lunch break, and I am more than happy that I did. Upon walking in, the place was very clean and homey. It is an order at the counter and then find a table to wait for your food kind of place, so I did just that!

I ordered the matcha rose butterfly since the barista recommended that drink and it is one of Tryst Caffe’s specialty lattes. It came out beautifully with a layer of green on the bottom from the matcha and a layer of blue above from the butterfly pea powder. The drink was topped with a fresh rosebud, which was an excellent final touch presentation-wise. This drink perfectly quenched my thirst and had so much flavor that I was honestly ready to buy a second one!

For food, I ordered Tryst Caffe’s breakfast bowl, which consisted of eggs, butternut squash, avocado, greens, alfalfa sprouts, and a topping of espelette powder. I felt all the ingredients in the breakfast bowl were extremely fresh; however, I wish there was a sauce or something to provide a bit more flavor to both the eggs and the alfalfa sprouts. The sweet potatoes were cooked perfectly and seasoned decently, and the side salad of greens was dressed well. I am big on flavor, so either the eggs needed to be naturally bursting with flavor or I needed hot sauce,  ketchup, or both! As for the alfalfa sprouts, in my opinion, they are only fun to eat with a sauce or some type of seasoning, so this was a fix that needed to be made. This bowl was filling yet light, so I felt great afterward. Sometimes having such a big lunch while at work can be draining and tires me, so I pay close attention to eating foods that will not negatively affect my energy throughout the work day.

The staff at Tryst Caffe was young and friendly, and some employees were so new that they were in the process of training while I was dining there. They were quick to bring a pitcher of water and a glass to my table while I was waiting for my latte and food, which I felt was good service. All in all, the ambiance of this place resembles a convenient, time-effective, affordable, and delicious spot for lunch. I definitely recommend this spot for all who work in Beverly Hills! This is definitely a great option while I am at work, given its location. I am eager to try more from their menu, like the breakfast burrito, which consists of potatoes, roasted bell peppers, Spanish onions, avocado, eggs, and a choice of meat (turkey bacon or pork), and the fried chicken sandwich, which consists of homemade pickles, fried chicken breast, pickled onions, and aioli on sourdough bread.
