Reviewing 17th Street Thai Sushi: Thai cuisine in Fort Lauderdale
If you are looking for Thai or Japanese food at reasonable prices without skimping on quality, then 17th Street Thai Sushi is your spot. I have dined here twice, and both times I opted for their lunch specials. Whether you are ordering the curried or basil duck, opting for a crispy fish filet with spicy chili sauce served with a side of sushi, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at both the quality of the dishes and the size of the portions.
Best miso soup at 17th Street Thai Sushi
They offer miso soup or salad to start, which is included in the price of all lunch specials. I opted for miso soup. I have to say that this is the best miso soup I’ve tasted in a long time; it might even be the best miso soup I have ever tried. It was sweet and smoky, and it came with silky yet firm tofu pieces, slivers of tiny scallions, and seaweed.
Delectable duck and amazing Thai donuts at 17th Street Thai Sushi
After my starter, they brought out the duck dish, which was crispy slices of duck, onions, red and green peppers, and a tasty basil-infused sauce. The meal came with perfectly cooked white jasmine rice and a crispy, freshly fried spring roll with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. It was truly delectable.
Even though I was full, I had to try one of 17th Street Thai Sushi’s desserts. I ordered their Thai donuts. They came out piping hot, with a delicious dipping sauce with nuts. I was amazed, and you will be too.
17th Street Thai Sushi Final Review
The service at 17th Street Thai Sushi was fast, efficient, and friendly without being intrusive. The interior is highly clean, with a modern bar laced with neon lights. On a wall behind the bar, there is an impressive art mural of a huge squid. There’s also an open kitchen where you can see the chefs doing their magic and sending all the wonderful aromas to drift around the restaurant. I am a huge fan of open kitchens as it means they have nothing to hide, and you can watch your meal being prepared. The restaurant offers cozy booths indoors, but there is also outside dining available if you prefer.
My intention from here on out is to eventually try all the daily specials at 17th Street Thai Sushi. Two down, eight to go!
