Reviewing Whit’s End: A ‘crazy pizza place’ with a dash of seafood in the heart of Queens.

Sea Bass (Whit’s End, New York)

Whit’s End is truly a gem in the Far Rockaway community. The owner, Whit, provides a place for everyone in the community to gather for live entertainment, great food, and a good time. I feel you can unapologetically be yourself at Whit’s End. I frequent this place often because my significant other’s friend works here. Whether you sit inside or out, Whit’s is nothing but good vibes.

Our go-to dishes here are the spicy tuna crunch, Frank’s baked clams, cast iron steak, and “Calabria” (soppressata picante, parmigiana, and pepperoncini) pizza. I cannot rave enough about the tuna crunch. Everyone, at least once in their life, needs to try Whit’s spicy tuna crunch. We are obsessed, but it’s for a valid reason! Whit goes to catch the tuna himself, so it is always impeccably fresh. If he can’t get a properly sized tuna, we are out of tuna crunch for months; it is so heartbreaking! The baked clams are always cooked and seasoned to perfection. They are literally the best clams I’ve ever had, no joke! The pizza is brick oven style, and the steak is phenomenal.

Being that Whit’s End is BYOB (bring your own bottle), any outside drinks, beers, or wines are allowed. Over my many times here, I think it is an amazing concept that the menu changes every so often. What better way to stay fresh to your crowd than by changing up what you offer? Whit likes to experiment with his culinary skills, which gives both regulars and newcomers an opportunity to try new things. The most unique thing I’ve had from Whit’s End is his shark filet dish.

Whit also gives talents from the community a chance to perform and get their name out there. On any given night, you will find a live musician, cabaret girls, a magician, or even some vendors at Whit’s End. During my most recent visit in the evening, a magician was there. I’ve seen him a few times before, but this time, he came up to us and showed us some card tricks. He wowed me! I couldn’t figure out how he did any of the tricks. Seeing the magician work his magic while we waited for our food was a delightful experience. After he showed us a few tricks, he moved on to other tables and everyone was satisfied with his performance. People were coming up to him asking to see specific tricks again.

Whit’s End supports small businesses by letting them sell items at the restaurant and grow their brand. I really appreciate the effort this establishment makes in giving people an outlet to showcase their businesses and talents. At the end of the night, Whit also gives any leftover food to people in need in the area. Everyone in the community knows and loves Whit. It is amazing to see the impact one place can have on a neighborhood. One thing is certain: when you come here, you will consistently get fantastic food made with love. As far as the entertainment or businesses you might find here, that’s always a surprise!
